What is Earth Day?
Happy Earth Day! Every year on April 22, Earth Day marks the birthday of the modern environmental movement in 1970. Today, Earth Day is widely recognized as the largest secular observance in the world, marked by more than a billion people. And in celebration of our beloved planet, NASA and the official Earth Day network are hosting various events. Visit Earth Day with NASA to take a look at the events that NASA is hosting, both physcially and virtually. The virtual events include live talks, conversations with scientists, a “learning zone,” interactive Kahoot! games and other activities. EarthDay.org, the global organizer of Earth Day, has themed this year’s celebration with “Invest in Our Planet.” Its website boldly states: "Earth Day 2022 is focused on accelerating solutions to combat our greatest threat, climate change, and to activate everyone – governments, citizens, and businesses – to do their part …"
Together, Nasa and EarthDay, along with every other business and person involved wish to promote the beauty of the planet and how we can do our best to protect it. Tentsile are holding hands with many other like-minded brands who wish to make a difference to the planet. In light of Earth Day 2022, we wanted to express what it is we do here at Tentsile to make a difference and do our part in helping the planet heal that little bit more.
How Tentsile Invests in Our Planet
Tree Planting
As many of you know, we work with WeForest and EdenProjects to rejuvenate and nourish deforested areas, and assist with communities that are at difficulty due to the acts of logging and deforestation. For every Tree Tent and Hammock that you purchase, we plant 20 trees. You can also help to plant trees from as little as $1 to enable the rehabilition of deforested ares and conserve some of the worlds communities that are most at risk from climate change.
1% For The Planet
The spectacular work of 1%FTP allows us to donate 1% of our sales to conservation projects around the world. Please read their website and see what they are capable of doing, the changes that have been made thanks to this organisation are truly breathtaking and admirable.
Single Use Plastic Free
With great pride and happiness we can announce that we have overhauled our manufacturing process, and the suppliers that we work with, in the creation of our products. As of July 2022, each new product will no longer contain any single use plastic, and our dedicated factory will no longer recieve materials containing single use plastics. This is a large step in Tentsile becoming a more eco-friendly business.
We hope to further reduce our carbon footprint over the next year, and hope to hit 1,000,000 trees planted soon! Thank you all for your support, and make sure you do your part for our planet Earth.
