Earlier this year, the Big Canopy Campout saw hundreds of people and organisations take to the trees this September, sleeping out in forests around the globe to raise funds for vital conservation work. One such group is the Bob Brown Foundation, who got in touch with Tentsile to ask for some Tree Tents to help fight deforestation on the front line. Of course, we were more than happy to join their plight – saving trees is what we do best. Hear from Erik Hayward - CEO of the Bob Brown Foundation - as he explains what’s happening in the Tarkine Forests of Tasmania.

We’ve set ourselves the challenge of planting ONE MILLION TREES worldwide in five years!

We’re almost at the end of the second year of this exciting challenge and thanks to your support and the incredibly hard work of our tree planting partners- an amazing 393,755 trees have been planted! One tree can absorb as much as 48 pounds of carbon dioxide per year. That means the trees you helped plant could absorb over 18 million pounds of CO2.

Tentsile Camp Outs gives us a look at what the future of camping could be. This summer, you’re all invited to get unplugged, get outdoors, and join the worldwide Tentsile Tribe in the trees!

April marks the 3^rd year anniversary of Tentsile as proud partners of Leave No Trace, an organisation that protects the outdoors by teaching people to enjoy it responsibly. To help you all camp with care, here are the Seven Principles of Leave No Trace with Tentsile Tree Tents:

In the environmental world there are plenty of negatives to report, but just for today, we want to share what your 165,000 trees have done to help the planet, and what 1 MILLION could possibly achieve. Trust us, it’s pretty amazing what trees can do! 

Tentsile would like to thank each and every one of you for supporting our business and helping us achieve such great things in 2017.

It hasn’t all gone according to plan though, and I know how much you guys like to hear about the reality of running a small business. Let me give you a rundown of the things that also went wrong – so you can get some perspective!

So you’ve bought your Tentsile Tree Tent. It’s been packed up and whizzed to your door. You eagerly open it up, and read: ‘Tentsile: we plant 18 trees for every tent sold.’ Perhaps you’re familiar with our environmental aims. Or perhaps, unknowingly, unintentionally, you’ve become part of a movement to reverse worldwide deforestation!

But how, you ask? For this week’s blog, we want to take you behind-the-scenes of Tentsile’s tree planting pledge…

Being able to join the remarkable team of people behind The Big Canopy Campout‘s historic inaugural event was an honour, and though in aid of a very serious cause, a lot of fun. 

For John and Olly, organisers behind the international event, all the persuading, promotion and planning was over, so the only thing left for me to do was embark on a weekend of adventure, and enjoy contributing to a very worthwhile project… 

So it’s one thing saying we want to plant trees; it’s quite another actually doing it. Turns out, repopulating the planet with trees is not as straight forward as one initially thinks – even for people in the tree-loving business!
