A new low-impact travel concept opening in Finland National Park, Nuuksio.
Tentsile Finland and local outdoor adventure operator Honkalintu will be opening an exciting new generation of accommodation and nature travel service in Finland. Set on the side of the beautiful Lake Pitkäjärvi, next to the Finnish Nature Centre Haltia in Nuuksio National Park, this experience for all senses is located only 45 minutes from the Helsinki-Vantaa International Airport.
The Tentsile Experience Eco-Camp offers to National Park visitors the possibility to sleep in trees without leaving a trace. By booking this new green “hotel”, visitors can hear the sounds of Finnish summer nights, experience clear skies and stars, and take a morning swim in pure waters. Next door to the Eco-Camp is located the National Park and Nature Centre Haltia, with its wide variety of treks, exhibitions and a high-quality restaurant.
This combination of services makes the visit a very pleasant, unique and rich-in-nature experience. There is over two years of testing and evaluation behind this new travel experience. The Tentsile team has visited several delicate areas between Finland’s southern archipelago all the way up to Lappland and has studied the impact of Tentsile tree tents. Moreover, the carbon footprint for this new kind of eco-tourism has been calculated by using MIPS (Material Input Per Service unit) method. Results are very positive and they support responsible local/global tourism and low impact ideology in travelling.
The numbers of annual visitors in many Finnish National Parks is rising, but there has been very few options for international travellers to stay in the area over night, if not well prepared. Also, travelling with all the camping gear is challenging if trying to combine a city stay with outdoor activities on the same trip. Airlines’ baggage allowances are not planned for travellers with outdoor equipment. As such, to solve this logistical issue, there is now also a new gear rental service piloting in the area. This gives Tentsile and nature enthusiasts easy access to all needed gear like sleeping bags, kettle, packbags etc. once the person arrives in the area. This is also a great opportunity to test different gear before purchasing them for their own use.
This new travel concept in Finland is developed with a focus on environmental values and visitors’ positive multisensory experience. Soon opening online booking system is a totally new Finnish innovation JOHKU, where you may pick all different local services into the same shopping basket and make the reservation for your whole package easily from all over the world.
New Tentsile Experience Eco-Camp had a first public press event at Nature Centre Haltia on Wednesday 6th of April with all supporting co-operators and organisations involved in this amazing Nature Reserve of Finland.
