Q. Where is Tentsile HQ?
A. London, UK. We also have a bricks and mortar store in Ogden, UT
Q. What are the main differences between the Stingray and the Vista?
A. The Vista has a fully removable top. Fly sheet and Insect mesh both unclip from the floor. It has 4 entry points. The Stingray has an attached insect mesh and has 2 entry points. It is better for all weather camping.
Q. Do you ship to my location?
A. Yes, we ship worldwide which means if you can get your post you will be able to get your tent. This excludes Antarctica and residential addresses in Russia that are outside of the Moscow area.
Q. How much does shipping cost to my country?
A. Shipping is charged at a local rates, sent from London, Utah and China!
Q. Are there any extra shipping charges?
A. Not if you are in the USA, Canada, the EU, Australia. However for some other countries the import duties can be quite high. Like the Bahamas for example.
Q. I want to become part of the Tentsile movement; do you have an Affiliate / Ambassador scheme I can join?
A. email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information on this.
Q. How much weight will they hold?
A. 400kg / 880lbs for the larger models, 220kg / 485lbs for Tmini and Flite. Pick your trees wisely as the tension loads are on top of these.
Q. What is the minimum and maximum distance Tentsile needs between trees?
A. The minimum distance needed is 1 Tentsile + 2 ratchets. The maximum is only limited by the length and number of your ratchet straps. Tentsile comes with 6m / 19ft long straps as standard so the maximum is about 14m / 42ft. This is normally enough but if you need more, buy extra straps.
Q. A ratchet buckle is damaged / deformed / not locking. What should I do?
A. Retire it immediately. That means don't use it again, and make sure no one else tries to either. Send us an email with a clear picture of the issue and we'll take care of it from there. If you are in any doubt about the ratchet, it's quick and easy to check it out with us, so don't take any chances.
Q. How do I release the Ratchet buckle without getting caught with your fingers in it?
A. Take the loose tail of the ratchet strap and thread it through the ratchet handle buckle AND release lever. This gets your hand out of the way of any buckle kick-back when you release the tension! Video of this process can be seen here at 2.20mins.
Q. Is the ladder included in the price?
A. No. The ladder can be purchased separately. We want to discourage our customers to set up Tentsile higher than the recommended height. Please read all the instructions and warnings before setting up.
Q. Can I put my tent up really high and how do we do it?
A. Your Tentsile should be set up at a height that you would feel safe falling from. We recommend 1.2m / 4 feet as a safe and easy height to use. Pictures you see of high installations have been executed by professionals with Rope Access experience.
Q. Can Tentsile be pitched on the ground like a normal tent?
A. Yes, you can pitch on the ground in dry conditions. You can also use a spare rain fly as a ground sheet, wrapping the "wings" up to create a barrier against rain coming in under the top fly sheet. Please remember these are Tree Tents and as such, the head room will be tight as you will not benefit from 8" of sag you get when in the air.
Q. I bought my Tentsile from a retailer, who should I contact for help?
A. We have all the answers. Get in touch with us and we will sort you out! :) email@example.com
Q. Can I be a TENTSILE distributor in my country / state?
A. Convince us that you can sell. Then we can talk numbers.
Q. I love the tents and want to shoot a video for you. Can I get a free tent?
A. Buy tent, shoot video, if we like it we will refund you a portion (or even all) of what you paid. At our discretion. (So make sure its a good one)
Q. Are you going to produce a lightweight version?
A. We already did! Check out our Flite Tree Tent which comes in at 3.5kg / 7.2lbs. For the amount of space and comfort you get compared to a hammock, the extra weight is well worth it.
Q. Where does the name 'Tentsile' come from?
A. It's a play on words; the tents employ tensile force to create the space and an extra 't' was added to convey the product type. The founder is also dyslexic and can't spell.
Q. Does the Tentsile come with a waterproof rain fly sheet?
A. Yes it does! The fly sheet comes as standard on all models except the Trillium hammock.
Q. I have read reviews that state the Stingray is not rain proof. Is it?!
A. Yes! The first year we released the Stingray, we had the rain fly sewn onto the floor. It didn't work because rain came in through the stitching. Nowadays, the rain fly is separate and provides full cover and protection! Old reviews don't go away (but please check the dates).
Q. When sleeping, is there a lot of movement if someone moves around in the tent?
A. About as much as a well-filled water bed. Not much, just a gentle bounce.
Q. Are you bringing out a one man version?
A. Not just yet.
Q. Are these zombie proof?
A. We will let you know when the time comes.

Q. Do the trees need to be in a perfect equilateral triangle for Tentsile to work?
A. No. Tentsile can find a space inside any acute-angled triangle (if you're a geek you will know what this means - all angles are less than 90 degrees). If not, to understand see below or click here:
Q. How do I retighten my Tentsile's floor?
A. Over time, your Tentsile will stretch out a little (you may also have played with the floor straps and have to re-tension). Here is a Guide on how to recalibrate your Tentsile's Floor. Also, watch the 'Balancing and Equalising' video above.
Q. How do I use a Ratchet?
A. Thread the strap through the ratchet buckle, pull all surplus strap through and tighten. You may need to release and pull through excess as you go. Use the release lever to unspool. Always ensure that your ratchets are in closed position when tent is in use. You can padlock / tie off if you don't trust your friends.
