For Green Friday 2018, Tentsile helped SOS raise funds to buy an 890-acre piece of land in Sumatra. This land runs alongside primary forest in the Leuser Ecosystem, the last place on Earth where orangutans, elephants, rhinos and tigers still coexist in the wild.

This makes it a crucial area for protecting the primary forest and creating a buffer zone between wildlife and human activities. The 890 acres itself will one day become a secondary forest, as SOS’ partner NGO in Indonesia will plant native trees, restoring the land as a home for wildlife.

The first step to restoring this land is to remove the oil palm trees currently planted across the 890 acres. This takes time, chainsaws and lots of people, and therefore costs money.

This Green Friday, we need you to help us raise this money: the sooner the land is cleared of oil palms, the sooner new trees can be planted and start growing there.

There is 300 hectares of land which needs clearing. This will cost £29,754 to clear. Tentsile want to help the Sumatran Orangutan Society (SOS) this Green Friday by raising money to fund the clearing of this ex-palm oil plantation.

So, Tentsile will be donating the money we make when you purchase a gift voucher to the Sumatran Orangutan Society. Let’s help rebuild one of the worlds natural habitats.

Once the land has been cleared, the team will be able to plant 1,100 rainforest seedlings per hectare of land. Let’s help get clearing! Buy a gift voucher from as a little as $10.
