Here at Tentsile, we love all that trees have to offer; their ancient grandeur, their colorful delicacy, the sound they make when their leaves rustle in the wind. We love walking through forests of them, and sleeping between their sturdy trunks. We thought we knew a lot about trees. We do, afterall, plant a lot of them.
But this TED Talk gave us a whole new perspective. Did you know that on top of everything they do for us and for the health of our planet, they can also talk to each other?
Ecologist Suzanne Simard spent 30 years researching Canadian forests, which led to her astounding discovery that trees are able to talk to each other over vast distances and intricate networks of communication. Check it out:
